Franco Piumatti
Renowned Chef Franco Piumatti, 42, from Piedmont, currently represents the APRO SCUOLA ALBERGHIERA ALBA BAROLO. He has been with the school since 1982, first as a teacher. He now oversees the schools’ curriculum for amateurs and professionals studies, as well as the schools’ many banqueting and catering activities.
His kitchen experience prior to joining the school features such noted restaurants as: "Sporting Club" and “Circolo della Stampa” in Turin, the restaurant “Villar Perosa” in Villar Perosa (I) and “Portofino” in Nuremberg (De), among others.
Notably, Chef Piumatti’s career has also involved:
- Wine and food consulting with Enoteca (Barolo)
- Collaboration with the Cook Association of the Province of Cuneo,
- Consulting to agricultural producers and agencies to ensure quality control for exports and their marketing
- Key contributor for Italy’s leading food and wine magazines
- Expert consultant for a variety of associations for such significant food expos as: R.D.A. – Colonia; Truffle Fair – Alba, Beef 99- Zurigo; B.I.T. Milano, among others
- Charter member and teacher of ONAS (Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Salumi),
- The oversight of the Official Lunch in honour of President of Italian Republic C.A. Ciampi
- Appearance on national television program “Gustibus” in Barolo castle
- Presented “authority tables” for the Piedmont Tourism Association and the Tourism Agency of Alba In Washington D.C.. and in Baltimore, respectively.
- Managed Olympic Games/Turin 2006.catering activities for APRO SCUOLA ALBERGHIERA ALBA BAROLO
